Bio of Jerry Martin

Jerry Martin

Scouting History:
Jerry was a Boy Scout in 1931. Starting in 1962 as an adult in the Detroit Area Council, he served as a Committee Member of Troop 1059 and a Committee Chair for Post 1058. Jerry was also the Downriver District Activities Chairman for several years, the Public Relations Chairman for Downriver District for several years after that and also an Assistant District Commissioner for Downriver. Jerry is currently a committee member of Three Rivers District of the Detroit Area Council. Jerry is the recipient of the District Award of Merit and the Silver Beaver. He is a Brotherhood member of the Order of the Arrow, recipient of the Wood Badge training award and a Merit Badge Counselor.

Personal:
Jerry was married for 56 years. He and his wife had one son, who was a member of Troop & Post 1058 in Allen Park, Michigan. His wife and son are now deceased. Jerry was employed for 40 years as an electronic engineer for group ownership of radio stations. Woodworking is his hobby. Jerry retired in 1985.

Why A Century of Values:
I believe that Scouting is the finest youth program there is. This project provides a challenge to further Scouting in America. My Motto is: "If you want to associate with nice people join Scouting"
